Privacy policy
Last updated 20 October 2026
Hochi is made by WOOSOO PTY LTD ("we"). This policy explains what the Hochi app keeps about you and your family, where it is kept, and how to delete it. Contact us at doola.parenting@gmail.com.
What we keep
- Your account: when you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account ID and, if you share it, your email address and name. Sign in with Apple lets you hide your email.
- Your family's journal: what you enter in the app, such as your baby's first name and date of birth, the foods and allergens they have tried, reactions you log, cuisine and household preferences, and reminder choices.
- Purchases: if you subscribe to Hochi+, Apple handles the payment. We do not see your card details. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, receives your account ID and the purchase receipt so Hochi+ works on your other devices.
What we do not keep
- Meal photos stay on your phone. They are not uploaded.
- What you say about your fridge is not saved. When you tap the microphone, your phone's speech recognition (Apple's, on the phone itself where your iPhone supports it) turns it into a list of foods. Hochi keeps the foods for that meal idea only, not the recording or the words.
- We do not sell your data and we do not show advertising.
Where it is kept
Your family's journal is saved on your phone and, when you are signed in, copied to Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) in London, United Kingdom, so it is there when you change phones. Only your account can read or write it. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google). Subscriptions are handled by Apple and RevenueCat (United States).
Why we use it
To run the app for you: suggest meals that fit your baby's age and the allergens they have tried, keep your passport and allergen tracker, keep your journal in sync, and give you Hochi+ if you subscribe. The legal basis is providing the service you asked for (contract). Information about a baby's reactions to food may be health information; we use it only to show it back to you in the app.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. Signing out removes the journal from the phone but keeps it in your account.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Settings > Delete account. This deletes your account and the cloud copy of your family's journal, and revokes Hochi's access to your Apple ID if you used Sign in with Apple. Cancel a subscription in your iPhone's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions; deleting the account does not cancel it. You can also email us to ask for deletion.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or EU you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
Children
Hochi is for parents and carers. Children do not use it. The baby's details are entered by the parent.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and tell you in the app when the change matters.
